Somita Basu’s background is truly representative of America’s diversity and mobility. Somita grew up in Nebraska before moving in her awkward teen years to Maryland. After graduating from college in New Jersey with a degree in mathematics, Somita went to work with an insurance company, providing her with a foundation in financial services that serves her well as an estate planning and probate attorney. Somita has lived and worked in Singapore and India, giving her a unique global perspective on legal issues and an enhanced cultural competency when dealing with clients.

Somita served in the past as the Chair of the Solo and Small Firm Section of the California Lawyers Association and as the past Chair of the Board of Directors of the non-profit, Justice At Last. Somita also teaches law classes in a variety of subjects for Purdue Global Law School.
