Laura is a smart, passionate, and empathetic mediator at her private practice, Cox Conflict Resolution, focusing on employment, personal injury, and housing cases.  Using a skilled blend of facilitative and evaluative styles, Laura relentlessly pursues settlements in line with attorney and client preferences. 

As a successful attorney with experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants, Laura has litigated employment class actions, construction, and police officer cases in California and Washington.  In San Francisco, she also clerked for a family law judge and volunteered at a nonprofit to help evicted tenants.  She has a calm and positive demeanor, despite handling emotionally difficult or complex cases.  As an avid reader of alternative dispute resolution ("ADR") materials, she is well versed in negotiation strategies that will help resolve conflicts.

Laura regularly serves as a settlement officer in employment and personal injury cases through Resolve Law LA and is on the Alameda County Superior Court's Panel of Mediators.  ​​Laura is an American Arbitration Association ("AAA") Higginbotham Fellow and is actively using the skills learned in the program to improve people's lives.

In addition to her strong legal skills, Laura is a mom to three children.  Motherhood continues to teach her patience, compassion, and humility.  She considers every day a blessing.  In her spare time, Laura values connecting with her community through yoga, jogging, and a book club, as well as volunteer coaching kids in track and field events.  Laura and her husband enjoy their home, family, and friends in the Bay Area, as well as traveling.

Education:  Laura received her 40-hour mediation certification from the University of California Davis in 2024.  She received her J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law in 2012 and her B.A. with honors from Stanford University in 2009, where she also studied abroad at Oxford University.

Language:  Laura is a native English speaker and speaks Spanish at the intermediate advanced level.  She regularly conducts mediations in various languages, including Spanish and Korean, with the aid of translators.
