Kenneth Van Vleck has been a full-service mediator since 2019, has over 200 hours of
mediator training and has conducted hundreds of mediations. Mr. Van Vleck was trained in
mediation at the Pepperdine | Caruso Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. He has
specialty training in appellate mediations through the California Appellate Court Mediation
Training Program. He trained as a mediator for the United States District Court for the
Northern District of California. And he has real estate specialty training through the
California Association of Realtors.
Ken provides volunteer pro bono mediations for the Santa Clara County Superior Court, the
Sixth District Court of Appeal, the United States District Court for the Northern District
Court, and the San Mateo Superior Court. He is also a mediator panelist for the California
Association of Realtors®.
He has successfully mediated hundreds of litigated civil matters ranging from business
litigation to intra-family real estate disputes.
Ken has over 30 years of civil litigation experience, including arbitrations, civil trials, and
appeals, focused on business litigation, real estate, and construction disputes. He has
tried over 50 cases to verdict in courts throughout California. He brings this extensive
litigation background to mediation, offering an evaluative approach to mediation. With a
background representing both plaintiffs and defendants, he has insight into the risks and
benefits for both sides in mediating at all stages of dispute resolution – from pre-litigation
through post-appeal collections.
Ken is the Chairman of the American Bar Association Section of Real Property Litigation
subcommittee on commercial real estate litigation. He has been recognized year over year
as a Northern California Super Lawyer. He teaches as an invited lecturer at the Stanford
Law School Trial Advocacy Workshop.
