E. Gary Spitko is the Presidential Professor of Ethics and the Common Good and Professor of Law at the Santa Clara University School of Law, where his scholarship and teaching focus on conflict resolution and workplace law. Since 1998, he has taught courses spanning negotiation, mediation, and arbitration at the Indiana University School of Law, the Ohio State University College of Law, and Santa Clara Law, where he continues to teach in all three areas. He is also Faculty Director of the Santa Clara Law Conflict Resolution Program. Professor Spitko brings to his mediation practice more than three decades of engagement with employment law as a practicing attorney, teacher, scholar, arbitrator, and mediator. He mediates employment disputes on the roster of the California Court of Appeal for the Sixth Appellate District. On the American Arbitration Association’s employment arbitration roster, he has served as the arbitrator in more than 100 cases involving a wide range of workplace claims. His conflict resolution scholarship has appeared in many of the nation’s leading law reviews, including the Cornell Law Review, the Washington University Law Review, and the Harvard Negotiation Law Review.
