MLK Zoom Event: Reflections on Direct Conflict Ownership: Restorative Justice in Challenging Times
Jan 15, 2026, 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM
Zoom
About the event:
TMS is thrilled to invite you to attend a thought-provoking conversation between Professor Inga N. Laurent and Ms. Priya Mhlophe, an education administrator and NAACP Youth Council Advisor. Professor Laurent is a Fulbright scholar and a member of the faculty at Gonzaga University School of Law, where she teaches dispute resolution, evidence, and criminal law and procedure. Ms. Mhlophe is the Director of Student Success at Spokane Community College, and works with the NAACP Youth Council on restorative justice and conflict ownership as a way to address the serious needs of youth in our fractured society. Professor Laurent and Ms. Mhlophe will be in conversation about the challenges presented in this era of tribalism, including the dismantling of diversity and equity initiatives on campus and elsewhere.
Both speakers have worked with the NAACP on their Building Restorative Communities imitative: empowering communities to engage more directly with productive conflict, and devise the solution. They will discuss direct conflict ownership and restorative justice methods in mediation, and as building blocks for healthy communities.
One-hour MCLE credit will be offered, and there is no charge for the program. We hope to see you there!
